Game 3:

South Dakota State 7-9-1 (5-5)
UCA 5-7-2 (4-8)

Game 2:

Jackrabbits had a good day with win in early game over Mizzou by 6-3 then a come from behind win over Bears in the 9th. A fielding error and wild pitch in 6th helped a 3 run rally to get SDSU back in the game. Bears struck out 10 times which did not help. Beau Orlando went 2/5 with 2 rbis and Tyler Smith goes 2/4 with a rbi. Bears had no extra base hits.

Mizzou 4-8-1
UCA 0-5-0 (4-7)

At least the shut out was 6.1 IP by one of the best in the SEC (TJ Sikkema)...…..Bears had some chances but could not get the big hit to push some runs across...….. Moyer went a solid 4 IP giving up 2 runs but getting 8Ks...…..

{Update: MU pitcher TJ Sikkema pitched complete game on 3/16 at Fayetteville in a 4-3 Tiger loss. MU earlier that week beat A-State in a weekday series by 16-1 and 14-4....}

Moyer pitched to only 5 batters to start then Brad Verel put up 6 strong IP giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 4Ks......Ty Callahan pitched very solid 3.1 IP in relief but got the loss in bottom of 11th....Josh Ragan went 2/5 with a rbi

Lions are 6-10 like the bears but have wins over Stony Brook (2), ULM (2) and Troy with a 6-5 loss at LSU (imagine the scandal at playing in-state SEC opponents)…..SLU gets next weekend in Stillwater battling Cowboys...

Bears start a 9 game homestand Tuesday vs UALR then get Nicholls for the weekend series...

Game 2 (DH, game 1):

Christian Brasher gets the big bop going 1/3 with a 2-run HR in 5th...….Smith scores winning run in 6th on SAC fly by Anderson...….Noah Cameron went a strong 7 IP for the win giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 1 BB and 7Ks...….Gavin Stone gets the save with 2 perfect innings....

Game 1:
UCA 3-5-3 (1-0), 12 innings
SLU 1-5-1 (0-1)

What a SLC opener with a two way pitching gem.... Bears come from one back to tie then in 12th score 2 for the win...……..both starting pitchers go 9...Cody Davenport was 1 run, 4 hits and 8ks......Williams gets the win after 3 IP of one hit, shutout ball with 6 Ks.....only 3 BBs by all pitchers for both teams.....Bears score winning run with a single, two walks and throwing error....then a HBP with loaded bases adds the insurance run.... Go Bears!!

Not much offense and had 11 Ks.........Anderson goes 2/4 with a two-bagger and scores the only run.....Gilbertson, Heltemes and Wiley shared the pitching......Wiley goes 5.1 of IP of no hit shutout ball.....

Bats need to get going......

Not to be negative, but I feel like we’re hitting about .060 with the bases loaded this year.

Another pitching gem......UCA trio of Moyer, Verel and Stone recorded 15 k and only one BB.....however, NSU first run scored on a WP by Moyer..still Bears had plenty of chances with 10 bases runners and 9 LOB.....

UCA 5-9-0 (4-1)

Superb pitching by FR Noah Cameron with a complete game shutout with 13Ks including the last out...……..wow......Anderson 1/3 with 2 rbis…….Johnson 2/4 with 2 runs scored …….Navarro 2/3 with a run scored and a rbi…….Doran 2/4 with a run scored...….Bear 8th was classic baseball....Johnson lead off double..to 3rd on a WP.... Navarro walks...Anderson perfect bunt single scores Johnson...….runners get to 3rd on a ground ball out by Smith...….Navarro scores on SAC fly by Fiori....

Strong pitching from Davenport (6 IP) in a quality start and Stone in relief (WP).....13Ks and only 1 BB...Johnson gets the GWRBI with a single in 9th in an inning with two walks, a HBP and a stolen base...….Fiori, Ragan and Brasher each had rbis…...still not much power hitting but enough to get a win......always good to get a series opening win on Friday...…….

Ragan goes 3/4 with a run, 2 doubles and 3 rbis.........Navarro 2/3 with 2 BBs, 3 runs and an rbi... Smith added 2/3 with an rbi and Anderson drove in 2...Wiley goes 5 then Patton in relief for 4 and 12Ks combined......Bears had 20 baserunners and 11 LOB but 9 got home...........

Nice mid week win.........now carryover to weekend vs Jacks at The Bear...

Big win for Bears...Navarro as DH goes 3/5 with a HR and rbis…..Ragan scored 3 and drove in 2 going 2/4 with a double.....Verel, Stone and Wiley each went 3 IP for the winning effort...……pitching only gave up 21 hits and a remarkable .33 ERA against the league leader....bats hammered out 24 hits with 3 HRs.….however, committed 7 errors...….that needs to be cleaned up...

UAPB on Tuesday at Bear Field then off to the beach at Corpus for the weekend series....Go Bears!!!

Another fantastic pitching effort...…….Cameron goes 7 scattering 7 hits and 5ks...….Williams perfect in 2 Ip of relief except for one BB.....Ragan (HR) and Smith each go 2/4 with 2 rbis….Anderson and Brasher (HR) each 2/4 with one rbis…..does not get much better than shutting out undefeated #1....big game for both teams on Sunday....

Bears struggled to get the lead and headed into bottom of 8th after taking a 6-5 lead...….again Islanders come back for another walk off win....when did we last lose a series in the bottom of last inning each game? Dodd went 3/4 with 2 rbis…...7 LOB...disappointing to be swept especially with relief pitching not being able to hold leads......
