From walk-on to Hall of Famer

Monte Coleman was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 along with Nolan Richardson, Mark Martin, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Stancil, Firmon Bynum, Hendrix player and coach Chick Austin, and Conway basketball great Marvin Delph.
Born in 1957, Coleman wasn't even considered by man the best football player in his family coming out of Pine Bluff High School. That nod went to his older brother Sam, who had who earned a scholarship with at UCA. Monte began his college career with the Bears as a skinny walk-on...
