Bio with Chico Outlaws

Chico's season just started June 7.
Todd's struggled at the start, batting .083 (1-for-12) with three strikeouts.

I'm pretty sure that Todd played for Chico last summer also.

No members of the Chico Outlaws, with their combined batting average at a paltry .223 one week into the Golden Baseball League season, were about to complain when Todd Gossage cracked a three-RBI double in the eighth inning of Wednesday night's series finale against the Reno Silver Sox ...

"I think the biggest difference for me was that I made myself relax," Gossage said. "I wasn't as tense as I have been so far this season. That was able to help put out a nice loose swing with nothing holding it back."

Todd is getting all his playing time at the DH position.
The season stats so far:
Code:
G    AB   R   H   2B   3B   HR   RBI   TB   BB   SO   SB   CS   OBP   SLG     AVG
14   47   6   10   4   0    0    5     14   6    10    1   0   .302   .298   .213

But since June 18th, he's hitting: .352 (6 of 17) with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 1 stolen base, 2 strikeouts and 2 walks

Todd didn't help his average much, but had a pretty good night last night.

Quote:
After Chico first baseman Jason Van Meetren lined an infield single off Soja’s leg to load the bases, designated hitter Todd Gossage blasted a grand slam over the right-center field wall on the next pitch.

He was 1-for-4 with the HR and 5 RBI. So, he must have gotten his other RBI on a walk. I'm sure he'll take it.

It was his first homer of the season.

Also it sounds like an interesting fourth for Todd

Benches Clear During Sox loss in Chico

By Ben Deach

DH Juan Senreiso and LF Kane Simmons each hit their third home runs of the season Wednesday, but the Silver Sox would go on to lose 6-4 in Chico on a night that featured a bench clearing brawl.

He didn't play in the game according to the box score. Todd was 3-for-5 on Tuesday, raising his average to .246.

Todd Gossage has gotten hot at just the right time.

Gossage blasted his second grand slam of the season to break open a close game in the seventh inning to lead the Chico Outlaws to their fifth straight win and 12th in 16 games, 7-1 over the Long Beach Armada on Saturday night at Nettleton Stadium.

Todd has gotten hot in the last month and a half. His average is up to .276.
He's also added four homers and 25 RBI.

And Chico is 15-4 in the last 19 games.

Todd Gossage pursuing baseball dream like his father
Quote:
CHICO, California - Rick “Goose” Gossage still hurls advice at his youngest son, Todd.

The words are as blunt, simple and consistent as the fastball Gossage employed nearly every pitch in his 22-year major league career as a closer.

One. Work Hard.

Two. Have Fun.

Three. Be Yourself.

Gossage's Hall nod hits home
Quote:
Differences have always been one of the most dynamic aspects of the relationship between Todd Gossage, the Outlaws designated hitter, and his father Rich, the famed major league pitcher known widely as "Goose."

Though the elder Gossage made his name as a star reliever, he often encouraged Todd growing up to pursue a role as a position player. During his heyday, Goose Gossage garnished a steely appearance characterized by hair flowing from behind and that garrulous mustache he became renowned for — his only son, meanwhile, has for the most part opted to keep a close-cropped cut and clean-shaven face during his professional career in Chico.
