Good story on Todd.
It's actually not a negative story like the title sounds.

Quote:
A Gossage going nowhere fast
Unlike his hard-throwing, Hall of Fame father, Todd is a first baseman/DH in independent ball

At age 24, Richard Michael (Goose) Gossage was a Major League Baseball pitcher, already though unknowingly embarked upon a circuitous nine-team, 22-year trek to the Hall of Fame.

At age 24, Todd Gossage awoke in Chico, Calif., on Monday, spent four hours on a bus to San Francisco and four more in an airplane to Edmonton, where he boarded another bus that took him to the University of Alberta campus, where he eventually wound up sleeping in a bed in the Lister Hall residence.

Todd is crushing the ball so far this season ---

Average: .301
Home Runs: 8
RBI: 26

8 homers in just 20 games. He has half of the team's 16.

Chico won the league last year I believe. But the pitching is killing them this year. They are just 5-13 this far, and the team ERA is over 7.

Gossage was signed as a free agent by the White Sox over the winter.
He's going to start out with the Great Falls Voyagers.

So you're saying my skills would be enough to be a proofreader for the LCD?

that's a novel concept you've just thought up there. I think you could handle it. You should make a call.

Gossage went 0-for-1 in a pinch hitting situation in the first game for the Great Falls Voyagers. The Voyagers got blown out 9-1. He stayed in the game to play first.

He went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in his first start on Friday. Looks like he'll be a first baseman.

Todd is hitting .281 in his last 10 games - slightly better than his .273 season average. He needs to figure out how to hit lefties (0-for-6); he'd probably get more ABs. It looks like the only other guy playing 1B gets more of his chances against lefties. He's not doing any better though.
