McCollums Column: From ripple to waves
Michelle Short batted one time during her softball career at the University of Central Arkansas. When she enrolled at UCA during the fall of 2003, she was about as non-descript student-athlete as anyone anywhere on a college campus.
A graduate of Mayflower High School, she walked on at UCA in all aspects. She had neither an academic nor an athletic scholarship. A daughter of a professional bass fisherman, she, pun intended, had to fish or cut bait.
A career that began as barely a ripple continued to generate waves Saturday...
