Here's what I've got from my source:

"Visited with Clint Tuesday night in North Little Rock. Clint said Nathan is basically in a "wait and see" situation after the New Orleans rookie camp. Right now no takers from what I gather."

So he's not on the Saints' roster? Was he officially released (or never officially signed)?

From what I understood, never signed. He was just there on a tryout basis.
Could be wrong though.

This is a great opportunity for Nathan!

I think they took a shot on Cowan because of his size, but injuries and having not played a game in going on 2 years had to hurt his chances.

I think that has to be good news for Nathan. He resembles Drew Brees so hopefully Payton liked what he saw. Give Nate the Great a shot Coach!!! He won't disappoint!

David slew Goliath and given his chance I really feel Nathan can inflict some pain in the NFL. The kid is a winner no matter the cost and in the eight years I've been watching Bear football if anyone has had the "it" factor, Nathan is that person. Of course, your surrounding cast in the NFL plays a large part of your success also.

Getting back to the original post I just wonder if Bomar would have gotten the pub if he hadn't played at OU. He didn't win anything at Sam, never has beaten Nathan, and never has been too impressive for all the hype he has received. Playing at the north pole probably won't be his best friend either.

HB, I've never been a big fan of Bomar but the kid has been beaten down, especially in that game with us, and still had the moxy to get back up and outthrow and outrun us! Yeah he lost, but talking to him after the game and looking at those bruises, I could tell he was going to be an NFL kid. Starter? Don't know.

He's no Nathan, but no one else is either! :lol:

Found out that Nathan wasn't part of the June 4-7th or 8th camp. Apparently the Saints aren't interested. I've got a feeling he'll be picked up via CFL or Arena. :shock:

Apparently he will have to prove he can take a snap from under center (one of the major excuses used) ...then he can go to NFL and run the shotgun...go figure. Patience and keep working......

Slow time of the summer for roster moves in the NFL. I fully expect Nathan to end up on a roster by the beginning of training camp. I have read several message boards out there and his name is coming up fairly consistant. We need someone to give him more than a few days so they can see the nathan we all grew to love!

Bomar is a fine QB and the exposure (although in some ways negative) probably helped him with some NLF scouts...sure did not help him with OU fans....
