I don't want to be the eternal optimist here, but I KNOW this dude can play in the NFL. There are 32 NFL teams and each carry 3 QB's on average plus 1 on a practice squad - that's 128 QB's. I thought he would be one of those 128 by now. Thoughts??

I've kinda wondered that myself. He hasn't been picked up by Arena or the Canadian or any professional team that I know of. I wonder if there is more to the story than just his playing ability. Then again, maybe not. Guess only he and his family know. :D

Maybe he needs to have a criminal record. That seems to be an automatic shoe-in for an NFL team.

Well I know that the AF2 league (Arena Football) doesn't start signing players for that year until about 2 to 3 months before the season starts. Considering they just finished, he won't be going to the arena league anytime soon.

McCollum's Column: NFL scout tries to explain Brown’s holding pattern
Posted: September 1, 2009 - 10:43pm

Tom McConnaughey doesn’t have a complete explanation to why Nathan Brown is still in Conway rather than in an NFL camp, but he has some insight.

McConnaughey, the former University of Central Arkansas and New York Jets wide receiver, is now one of the chief scouts for the San Diego Chargers. He paid his alma mater a visit Monday during a routine trip through his territory.

Brown, one of the greatest and most successful quarterbacks in UCA and state history, was not drafted, didn’t make it in a free-agent camp at Jacksonville and has not been picked up by an NFL team...

One example of a QB that greatly benefitted from NFL Europe is Carolina Panthers signal caller Jake Delhomme.

However, I'm pretty sure a blindfolded, sleepy Nate Brown would have had no problem bettering Delhomme's numbers from the season opener in which he threw four pics and lost a fumble that was returned for a TD. And this is a guy who just signed a 5 year $42.5 million extension with $20 million guaranteed. Really?????? Someone give Nate a shot for crying out loud!!!!! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

They were talking on ESPN radio yesterday about all the teams that needed better starting and backup quarterbacks. Carolina and Jacksonville were both on the list. Way to go Jacksonville!!!!!! You had a great one and got rid of him.
