HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Central Arkansas women's golf team put up a terrific fight through the final hole of the ASUN Championships, rounding out the final day of play in third place. Madison Holmes was the low-scorer for the Bears, taking home a top-10 finish after three rounds.

Holmes tallied two birdies and an eagle on Tuesday, one of just eight golfers to count an eagle, rounding out a 2-over 74 to finish in ninth place. The sophomore had five birdies across the three rounds, and is the first Bear to finish in the top-10 of an ASUN Championship event. Holmes also finished in the top-20 last season as a freshman, showing steady improvement from year one to two. Valeria Ramirez capped an impressive freshman season with a 12th place finish, firing a 2-over 74 to move into the top-15 in round three. The Bogota, Colombia native shot birdies in all three rounds, totaling seven across her 54 holes.

Pear Rittawee ended the Championship with a third-round score of 80, capping a three-day score of 230. Like Homes, Rittawee turned in multiple birdies in each round, counting six before it was all said and done, finishing in 18th place. Elin Kumlin finished her final round with three birdies, scoring a 75 on Monday. The senior birdied her final hole, one of two birdies on the back nine, keeping the Bears in the hunt late. Kumlin turned in a final score of 233. Tania Nunez added a pair of birdies late, including one on her final hole as well, rounding out a third-round score of 80. The Guadalajara, Mexico native had six birdies on her scorecard, the second-most on the team.

Central Arkansas was the best team on par three holes, averaging a field-best 3.20 strokes on such holes. The Bears also tallied the second-most pars of the 13 participating teams, behind only champion Lipscomb.

The Bisons finished in first place after starting the day in fifth; Lipscomb matched Central Arkansas' best round of 295 in its third round to finish at a 904. Florida Gulf Coast took home second, two strokes behind at 906. The Bears brought up the top-three at 907, placing three golfers in the top-20. Individually, Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson finished first, with Jacksonville State's Claire Vermette and North Florida's Christin Eisenbeiss tying for second.
