The University of Central Arkansas softball team dueled Texarkana College to a 15-inning 1-1 tie at Farris Field on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs outhit the Bears 10-8, but the UCA pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts.

Texarkana scored the first run of the game in the top of the 11th when catcher Kristyn Adney, who reached on an error, scored on a single by Brittany White.

The Bears tied the game in the 12th when freshman Ashlee Genseal drove in senior shortstop Janae Owens with a ground ball through the left side of the infield.

UCA had a chance to take the lead in the 14th when freshman Courtney Brock was thrown out at the plate by center fielder Haley Nix on a single by sophomore Sarah Garcia.

UCA's Claire Collom gave up two hits and walk with three strikeouts in five innings. Senior Lyndsey Harris allowed three hits and struck out four in five innings, and junior Kora Behrens struck out six with five hits and an unearned run during the final five innings.

TC starter Kayla Woods threw eight shutout innings and did not allow a hit until the 8th inning. She allowed one walk and struck out four. Reliever Jessica Upchurch threw seven innings, allowing seven hits, one run and three strikeouts.

Junior catcher Amanda Perrott led the UCA offense by going 3-for-5 with a double. Junior first baseman Kayla Hitchcock went 1-for-4 with a double.

The Bears will host Southern Nazarene and Paris Junior College in the UCA Fall Clash on Saturday. The first game will start at 11 a.m.
