What's the status on UCA adding bowling? Figured you would be interested since Arkansas St and UAPB have bowling...

SHSU is getting ready to announce the addition of bowling. Would love if UCA added bowling as you guys seem to be the most natural fit for a bowling program.

Perhaps here in the next few years, a few more schools add it and we have our own bowling conference for regional schools without the HBCUs that are already in the SWAC.

SHSU
stAte
La Tech
UCA
Tulane -- who is rumored to add bowling (?)
An SLC school or two (?)

I have not heard anything about UCA adding bowling. I think it would be great, but I don't know if anything will happen. We'll see.

UCA will not be adding any sports any time soon. We are already at 17

Seriously guys, we don't need a bowling team. What's next? I'd just as soon have a rodeo team. If we are going to be the least bit realistic here I'd vote for a Bass fishing team. It's like BadNews says, we got 17 sports already and that is enough. Our pockets aren't deep enough for anything else.

There are already plenty of enough sports operating in the red and living off of football without adding another albatross. Until we can increase the fan support and the finances for the "lesser" sports we have now, I say leave the bowling ball in the bag.

Ditto. We've got to get basketball generating more revenue for us to be a legitimate D1 program. Have to find some creative ways to get people in the Farris Center.

Yeah even if that means having Intramural Basketball Championship games at the Farris Center after a Bears or Sugar Bears, then yes I am all for it. I agree with you completely, Monkey.

Seems like some schools add bowling as a women's sport to save money instead of adding a more expensive sport such as softball, soccer, etc.
We don't need it.

Well, it would be more appropriate for UCA to have a Crappie Fishing Team given good old Lake Conway...... but FLW or Wal-Mart might underwrite the state's only D1 BassMaster's team....SAU already has a rodeo team so that would not be unique......I don't think UCA is going to add sports until the AD's budget gets to the mega-million level.....then we can go about doing good....there goes the BowlingBears.....

The only thing a bowling ball is good for is a boat anchor.

What about a riflery team? Seems like a natural fit for the Natural State..... some of the best shootists in the world live here.

Seems to me, back in my day, we had marksmanship as a PE credit. ROTC might have had a rifle team, too.
