Probably just some scheduling logistic problems in putting the brackets together.....

wow. i mean, they had to go out of their way on that one. TWO repeat games - Southern Miss v. UA and WKU v. UCA. Samford gets to play everyone though. WKU and Southern Miss lose out too, since they don't get to face off. i'm not familiar with the way these things are scheduled so someone please correct me if i'm wrong and this isn't some blatant attempt to keep us from playing UA.

I noticed that we have just 17 players on the roster, 5 fewer than last season. I really hope some progress can be made, but it will likely be tough with a brand new team. There are some juco players that put up great numbers last season though...

I don't know the answer to how scheduling is usually done, but we are playing Louisiana Monroe twice at their tournament next weekend. So, while it is odd and probably intentional, it's not the only time we'll play a team twice.

Addition by subtraction with only 17 players...you're not wasting scholarships and trying to get everybody into a game.

Softball season starts tomorrow at 9 am vs. Western Kentucky. They also play at 2 vs. Samford. You can follow both games via Gametracker. Visit the softball page at UCAsports.com, and click on Gametracker on the left hand side of the page. Reminder: home opener this Tuesday vs. UAPB. Doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.

I agree. I think the 17 players isn't a negative unless some players start getting injured. 17 good players is obviously a bitter situation than 22 bad ones (not saying that all the players last season were bad).

Lost to WKU 9-0.
Holli Hill pitched three scoreless to start the game, but then WKU scored 9 in the last four innings. After giving up two in the fourth, Holli was taken out. And things just got further out of control.

Three of the five team hits were from players that returned from last season's team.

I wouldn't expect a good season from the softball team. Rebuilding teams never fare well. When this team matures though, watch out.
