CONWAY, Ark _ Senior Rebecca Sorensen of the University of Central Arkansas was named the Southland Conference Golfer of the Month for October on Wednesday.
Sorensen, from Grabo, Sweden, led UCA with a 74.0 stroke average in five rounds of play in October. She began the month by tying for ninth in the Oral Roberts Shootout with a low round of 72. Sorensen then was the medalist at the rain-shortened Sam Houston Elkins Lake Classic, shooting a tournament-record 69-68_137 and leading UCA to the team title.
Sorensen leads the UCA women with a 75.1 stroke average in three fall tournaments.
