Soccer beats SIU-E

The Central Arkansas men's soccer team closed out the 2009 season by recording its fourth consecutive win, defeating SIU Edwardsville 1-0 on Saturday.
It was the third consecutive shutout for the Bears and their sixth of the season. In the season-ending four-game winning streak, UCA allowed just one goal.
By finishing 7-7-1, the Bears improved by four wins from last season and had seven fewer losses. It also gives them their first .500 season or better since making the transition to Division I.
It was also the Bears' final contest as an independent, with the men's soccer program joining the Missouri Valley Conference next season as an affiliate member. UCA will remain a member of the Southland Conference, which doesn't sponsor men's soccer, in all other sports.
