The Bears had two pole vaulters earn spots in the Championships. Freshman Daniel Reese took fourth with a vault of 4.60 meters (15 ft.-1 in.), breaking his own school record. Freshman Ryan Kotch of Conway was sixth at 4.30 meters (14 ft.-1.25 in.).

Reese (Genoa Central) emerged as one of the state's all-time top high schoolers for which Arkansas has developed quite a reputaion for a small state. The Arkansas Vault Club near Hot Springs has been a hotbed of good vaulters for a decade with several national Top 10s. It is good to see Bears have both Reese and Kotch.....both can still soar higher...need to get about 15'3" to score at SLC meet...doable for Reese now....


Sophomore Jaron Criswell of Fort Smith, finished first with a long jump of 7.07 meters (23 ft.-2.5 in.).

Criswell had best in high school of about 23' 8"..it will take all of that to score high at SLC....capable of busting a good jump.....


Three Sugar Bears broke their own school records on Friday night. Freshman McKinley Rea of Conway improved on her qualifying mark in the pole vault at 3.40 meters (11 ft.-1.75 in.), tying for third place. Freshman Jasmine Ellis of Nashville, Ark. also set a new UCA best in the long jump at 5.53 meters (18 ft.-1.75 in.), placing fourth. Freshman Judith McGrew of Hot Springs also set a new school record in the weight throw at 11.42 meters (37 ft.-5.75 in.).
