There are many things going on in the world of UCA Sports. Just thought that if you have not kept up with it lately, I would tell you. But if you already know, good for you.

Softball: They swept UAPB on Wednesday, but got shut out today in Waco, Texas. There scores were 4-0 against UTEP and 7-0 against #23 Baylor. They continue the tournament in Waco tomorrow against Wichita State at 10 a.m. and Southland Conference foe UT-Arlington at 3 p.m. And Sunday at 11 against Tulsa.

Tennis: Congratulations to our Tennis team for winning their first match of the season. They defeated Henderson State 6-1 in Conway yesterday. They are now 1-2 on the year. Their next match will be February 27th at home against McNeese St.

Volleyball: Congratulations to Cristin Curl and Chloe Smith who have been invited to the U.S. Olympic National Team Tryouts in Colorado Springs, Colorado this weekend. Very wonderful honor for both!

You can read all of these stories at UCASports.com. And you're welcome.

Softball will be better. They are playing tough teams this weekend, but by the time they come back home in March, you are going to see them play good ball.

Also, tennis continues their homestand this weekend with SLC matches against McNeese St and Lamar. Both starting at 10 am.

Good to see softball team bounced back for the win vs Jackson State and that the baseball Bears sent the Bills packing with another loss.

Congrats to our Men's Golf Team. They recently won the Grover Page Classic, hosted by Tennessee-Martin in Jackson, Tennessee by an unbelieveable 30 strokes. Individually, junior Gideon Piennar and sophomore Josh Sims finished one, two by only a stroke. Way to go guys!

Their next tournament they will have is the San Francisco Triumph at Pauma Valley. That tournament will be held March 15 & 16.

Weekend updates:
Tennis: Lost to Lamar 7-0 on Saturday, and lost to Stephen F. Austin 6-1 today. I was there. They won the doubles portion, and played well in the singles. They want to win so much. I see their determination. I feel confident they will win another match soon.
Next up: at home against Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday at 2.

Women's Soccer: Had their alumni match yesterday with the current team winning 2-0.

Women's Golf: Currently participating in the James Madison Eagle Landing Invite in Winter Park, Florida. They are in first place as a team and sophomore Sara Hillman is leading the individual portion. Rounds continue on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Softball: As 52 reported earlier, they won the series finale today at Corpus Christi 7-2, getting the first Southland Conference win of the year. Junior Shayleen Ristau led the Bears offensively going 3-4 including a two-run home run that gave the Bears the lead they would never surrender.
Next: At UAPB on Tuesday with a doubleheader at 1. They also play another SLC series next weekend at UT-Arlington before returning home on March 16th to take on Henderson State.

Track: A reminder the track team opens up their outdoor season this Saturday with the UCA Relays at the new Bill Stephens Track Complex. The events start at 10 a.m.
