Rebecca SorensenFRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas senior Rebecca Sorensen was named the Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday in conjunction with the release of the All-Academic Women's Golf Teams.
A native of Grabo, Sweden, Sorensen had a season to remember as the only women's golfer in Southland history named player and student-athlete of the year and claim medalist honors at the conference tournament. A psychology major and Dean's List student with a 3.44 grade-point average, Sorensen is the first UCA women's golfer named to three consecutive academic teams and is one of only four in conference history. Finishing in the top seven in 10 tournaments, Sorensen led the league with a 75.90 stroke average in 29 rounds.
