While Alcorn State was literally out manned (they only fielded 10 players), nonetheless encouraging for UCA's future is that half of the goals and half of the assists came from freshmen. Three freshmen started.

Other kind of funny observation from the box score: 20 time offsides.

As a person who doesn't know anything about the rules of soccer, was this a result of the number of freshmen who got playing time or was it due to the team we were playing?

Weird stuff.
That's probably 15 times more than normal...

Could our girls not see where the last defender was or something??

Definitely NOT related to freshmen-itis. Most of these girls have been playing at a very high level of soccer with their club teams. Alcorn could have been running a trap all game - no excuse for being caught in the trap repeatedly - or the ARs could have been flag happy. OR our girls were just being lazy.

I'll ask about it.

SO I asked - Offsides trap. Getting caught that many times is unfathomable.

SFA's has an excellent first year coach in Tony Amato. He had a lot of D2 success at Rollins College in Florida.

Well, the game is almost over, but it looks like UALR will win 3-0. Not a good looking outing for UCA.

The stats don't look very good. No shots in the 1st half. 6 for the game and only 1 on frame.

ULAR had given up a ton of shots in the their 3 games coming into this game. :(

Can't score. 0-0 tie to a pitiful Southern team. Out shot 30 - 2, but couldn't find back of net. <sigh>

The women finally found the net, and beat Prairie View A&M 4-0 (all 4 goals came in the 2nd half). Congrats ladies!

Great weekend for the Bears. I'm glad I was able to make it for the games.

On top of the win being a big win for the program, it was also a big win for Coach Tina, her 100th!
