Steven Lecuyer Named Southland Men's Golfer of the MonthQuote:
FRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas senior Steven Lecuyer recorded three fourth-place finishes while averaging 72.0 strokes per round over eight rounds. The native of Edmonton Alberta (Strathcona), shot a final-round 69 to cap his fourth-place finish at UT Arlington's Waterchase Invitational on the same course that will play host to the Southland Conference tournament in April.
Lecuyer's tied for fourth at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational in the opening tournament of the season in Nebraska City, Neb., and finished the month in a fourth-place tie at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate in Manhattan, Kan.
There were four Southland golfers who earned honorable mention this month, including Lamar's Kevin Hesbois, Sam Houston State's James Glenn, Stephen F. Austin's Stetson McMillan and UT Arlington's Zack Fischer. To receive honorable mention, a golfer must receive votes from at least 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the golfers of the month, though is not permitted to vote for his own student-athlete.
