 Post subject: Southland Indoor Track and Field Championships, 2/24-25/12

Bears and SugarBears compete today and Saturday at the SLC Indoor held at the University of Oklahoma indoor facility.

Highlights so far:

FR Jean Black and JR Jasmine Ellis finsihed 6th and 7th in the Women's Pentathlon 60mh and earned 880+ points.

JR Megan Snow tied for 3rd in the Women's Pentathlon high jump at 5' 3.75" (759 pts) and Jasmine Ellis tied for 6th and earned 724 pts.

Snow was 3rd (622 pts) in the Women's Pentathlon shot put at 37' 5.25" and Ellis was 7th.

Ellis wins the Women's Pent long jump at 17' 8.25 (668 pts).

JR April Martin wins the Women's Pent 800m in 2:24.31 for 766 pts and Jean Black was 8th.

JR Daniel Reese passed at the first two heights then vaulted 15' 1 on his first attempt and did not clear the next height. He was one miss away from scoring.

SR James Anderson tied for 4th in the Men's high jump at 6' 7". SR Bobby Washington passed the first two heights and then did not clear the next.

SR Jaron Criswell leaped a fine 24' 1.5" in the Men's long jump for 2nd only 3/4 of an inch from 1st. Criswell's jump is #2 all-time on UCA indoor list.

JR Courtney Efurd ran 5:07.89 in the Women's mile to qualify for the finals. Courtney improves her #1 all-time indoor mark

Jasmine Ellis qualifed for finals in Women's 60m hurdles with 7th best time.

SO Tanesha Maxwell had the 2nd best time at 7.52 in the Woemn's 60m dash to move into finals. She improves her #1 UCA all-time best indoor mark.

FR Chance Tanner had 2nd best 400m in a fine 48.67 and SR Sage Raphael was 3rd in 48.98 and both move to finals. Tanner moves into 2nd all-time indoor for 400m behind Raphael.

SO Amos Gerber took 5th in the Men's 5000m in 15:04. Gerber improves his UCA all-time indoor #1 mark AND moves into 1st all-time for 5000m on the track for both indoor and outdoor.

SugarBears were 8th in the Distance Medley Relay. This is a 4000m 4-runner relay where teh lead off runner goes 1200m (JR Courtney Efurd), then the next is 400m (FR Khadijah Smith), then 800m (SO Jordan Chadwick) and anchor leg of 1600m (SO Kayla Nehus). Time was 12:36. This is a new #1 UCA all-time best indoor.

After 1st day in Men: USTA leads over SFA by 54-32 and UCA is 7th at 16 withon striking distance of about 5th.

After 1st day in Women: SFA leads USTA by 41.5 to 31 with UCA in 10th at 3 points with a chance to move to about 6th tomorrow.
