Rhodes is always a nice early season meet. They have a terrific facility and always attract a couple of big conference schools (Ole Miss for instance) and some good regional schools (such as David Lispscomb).
UCA did some good most notably Sage Rapahel winning the 400m in a quick 46.94 which is excellent and a new #6 on the UCA Top 10 List. This shows he may be capable of sub 46 later in the season which would be really good news for the 4 x400m team.
Amos Gerber set a new 10k track record at a very respectable 31:28 eclipsing the old mark set by Logan Dockery, his former teammate at Lake Hamilton High School.
Stephanie Simpson set a new women's one mile mark at 5:17. This should fall further in later meets.
Some other marks that are Top 10 UCA:
New #2 in 5k by Courtney Efurd in 18:30
New #6 in 5k by Kayla Nehus in 18:43
New #2 4x100m in 46.97 by team of Mgean Snow/Jatoi Snell/Kiara Armstrong/Tanesha Maxwell
New #8 in 100mh by Jasmine Ellis at 14.64
New #9 in 100mh by Jatoi Snell in 14.65
New #6 in 100m by Tanesha Maxwell in 12.14
Tie #10 in 800m by April Martin in 2:21.62
New #1 in 400mh by Jean Black in 65.34
New #7 in 200m by Tanehsa Maxwell in 25.25
New #9 in 200m by Khadijah Smith in 25.29
New #2 in 4x400m in 3:53.78 by team of Jasmine Ellis/Khadijah Smith/Jasmine Johnson/Mary Douglas
Tie #10 in HJ by James Anderson at 6'9.75" (2.08m)
New #3 in PV by McKinley Rea 10' 11.752" (3.35m)
There were several other near misses for new Top 100 marks including the men in the 4 x400m at a much better 3:15.53. UCA had three in the 400m at 49.5 or better. If they can get the 4th under 50 and have Raphael and Tanner run their capability on the relay, this could be 3:12 or better by SLC meet time.
The sprinters and jumpers should only get better as weather warms up.
Pretty good days work overall.
