http://www.ucasports.com/news/2013/4/15/WXC_0415133640.aspxAt Ole Miss Invite...always a pretty good meet....performances below are very comeptitive and show real improvement over past few years......SLC is a very good track conference so it is hard to get into Top 3 ...SLC normally always pretty well represented at NCAA nationals....
UCA Freshman Brooke Cassar shattered the school record with a time of 17:04.16 in the 5,000 meters.....this is VERY good time for a FR......for example, only one FR ran faster than this time in the SEC Indoor meet..... this would have been very competitive although not enough to place....continue to progress and be ready to make national field as a JR and SR.....
UCA Junior Erika Setzler easily broke her own record in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 10:52.29....would have been very competitive Sat at Fayetteville with Arkansas and Oklahoma State runners...better than the rest.....would have placed at Duke Invite last week and 3rd at Virginia Invite week before that.......
UCA’s 4x100 relay team of Tanesha Maxwell, Tyaniah Cash, Anilah Bashir and Megan Snow set a school record of 46.37...would have been very competive Sat with Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma...
UCA Senior Jasmine Ellis won the long jump with a leap of 5.68 meters....would have been close 8th at Arkansas vs jumpers from Kansas, Ark, Ok State, Texas A&M
Ellis was also fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.23)....woud have been 5th at Arkansas ahead of Texas A&M and OU....Fayetteville was perfect weather with a strong tail wind...
UCA's Tenesha Maxwell was third in the 100 meters (11.91) and 10th in the 200 meters (24.45). ...if you have never seen her compete you are missing a great competitor...she ran indoor at Fayetteville and took on the best from the SEC, FL State and Big 12 and held her own....11.91 would have been midpack Sat at Fayetteville vs all "big schools" (again tail wind) .....would have been 12th at Fayetteville out of 26....
UCA Sophomore Khadijah Smith finished seventh in the 400 meters (56.32)...mid pack at Fayetteville meet...
UCA Senior Daniel Reese easily beat the old school record with 6,381 points in the decathlon ....would not have been last at Fayetteville combined events which had a solid field of competitors....
UCA Freshman Corentin Louis turned in a third-place finish in the 1,500 meters (3:53.43). ...good for 10th of 26 at Fayetteville in a very good field and would have been #1 FR......would love to see him run in a 1500m race at Fayetteville where they always have good 1500m races....
UCA Sophomore Chance Tanner finished sixth in the 200 meters (21.34) and fourth in the 400 meters (47.35). ...mid pack time for Fayetteville and very much in the hunt.... again, all "big schools"....
would have been 2nd in 400m at Fayetetville....
UCA’s 4x400 relay team finished eighth (3:15.65)...would have been 4th at Fayetteville behind only Arkansas, Teaxs A&M and Minnesota "A" team.....
