From the Coach – Head Coach Richard Martin
"As a whole we did well for our first meet. We still have a lot to work on. Our freshmen did an outstanding job, as well as our returners. We still have a long way to go. I told them to make sure they work out over the break because that is important for continued improvements. We had three school records today and that's a solid start to our season with Jordan Atkins in the 60m hurdles, Alex Hanson in the mile, and Aidan Patton in the weight throw."

@Samford Invite, Birmingham Crossplex, 1/17/20

Congrats to SB Ajah Criner for the win in the W200m and a new UCA indoor record at 24.23....FR Sierra Campbell took 8th....

Have to wait and see what happened with Zach Jewell in the M200 as the he did not finish....pretty unusual in 200m dash unless a hammie issue or illness......let's hope the latter...…

@Samford Invite (Day 2), Birmingham Crossplex, 1/18/20

Taylor Coleman posted a new UCA record in the women's triple jump with a career-best leap of 12.12m (39-9.25) and won the event.

Malik Beasley notched a personal-best toss in the men's shot put and set a new school record. His throw of 15.35m (50-1.75) earned him a second-place finish.

With a career-best run of 9:53.03, Gracie Hyde finished third in the 3,000m. {Good to see Hyde get her open 3000m time below 10 as that is a precursor to get the 3000m steeplechase time down.....she should have a good opportunity this year in outdoor season to advance in NCAAs steeplechase with continued improvement}

The teams compete in Lawrence at the Jayhawk Classic......should be a good meet in most events and I am hoping some of our distance crew will take advantage of the competition.,

2/14/20 - Split squads this weekend with some at Houston and some at Pittsburg, Kansas...by the way, Pittsburg has a terrific indoor track facility....probably easily the best in D2....they are a pretty wealthy small school....wish our fanbase showed enthusiasm and support as Gorilla fans....
