WOOOO!!! One of our conference competitors is getting an enhancement that will make them (slightly) more favorable than they've been in the eyes of prospective athletes! YES! Celebrate good times, come on!!

1) I wish all of our SLC foes the best (until we meet on the field/court or where-ever), b/c in order to be the best we have to play the best and so if these improvements improve the quality of their program than that will only make us stronger in the long run. (in my opinion)

2) Read HoneyBears post above...

Fill up Estes every game and AD and Lu will have no choice but to expand....they are already anticipating that but keep the pressure on with attendance....best single thing we can do for athletic program is to be SRO at every home game.

I am not saying this because I am a homer, but the brand of turf ASU installed last season is the nicest I have ever seen. It is so much better than the stuff at WMS it isn't even funny. ProGreen is the company and if UCA puts in turf I highly recommend it. It is thicker than other brands and you do not see the pellets flying at all. The company is using our field as its demo nationally.

Trey had a chance to see it from afar on Wednesday and I am pretty sure he would agree.

HOMER!!!

We had to settle for O'Charley's the other night in Jonesboro. That Italian place closed as we walked in...stupid restaurants closing at 9 pm on week nights!

I watched the progress of your field turf being installed on TG and on the official site. It looks nice, that's for sure.

I just hope that we choose a company that is reputable. We don't need to go for a bargain basement deal to save money and then in 3 or 4 years the turf starts coming apart and the company we buy it from is no longer in business to honor the warranty. I recall that happening to some other university in this state. Don't know how many field turf companies are in busuness nationwide and I know the turf hasn't been around for too long a time, but I hope we get one with a good track record.
Crump, maybe the "committee" that went to NLR to check out the oversize TV will make a trip to Jonesboro to check out your plastic grass!

This looks to be the place that installed the turf in our Practice facility...looks as though they have installed it all over the country.

I believe FieldTurf (the stuff in the Pepsi Center) was the original synthetic "grass". I agree that we need to save up and buy the best. There are many examples of schools buying cheap stuff that tore up after a few years and the manufacturer had since gone out of business. But, I am hearing that the FieldTurf is on the back burner. The reason for putting the stuff is it's durable enough to withstand many practices, games, etc. It would make sense if soccer wanted to play its games in Estes, and the band and football wanted to practice in the stadium. However, I've heard that basically everyone wants their own facility. If that's the case, the FieldTurf turns into an unnecessary expense.

That is probably every bit as expensive and requires more maintenance. And, I think the playing surface might be a bit more slippery.

To paraphrase the old saying "you can't see the forest for the trees", I couldn't see the pellets for the bullets! :-s
