FRISCO, Texas – After helping Northwestern State to an SLC opening victory over UT Arlington on Saturday, Colby Bargeman was named Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week today. It is the first career honor for Bargeman, as he becomes the second Demon to win the honor this season, joining Trey Gilder on Nov. 26.
Bargeman, who came off the bench for the first time this season on Saturday and for only the third time in 47 games, led the Demons to a 86-82 win over UT Arlington in the opening game of the Southland Conference season. Bargeman sank a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to help NSU prevail in a game with 14 ties and 17 lead changes.
The Lafayette, La., native finished the game with 16 points and six rebounds, adding a single assist, block, steal and made only one turnover in 23 minutes of action.
On the season, Bargeman is averaging 10.1 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per contest.
