from TT over on katfans.com:

Texas State
8-30...ANGELO STATE
9-6....at Southern Methodist
9-13...TEXAS SOUTHERN
9-20...at Northern Colorado
9-27...SOUTHERN UTAH
10-11...at McNeese State
10-18...CENTRAL ARKANSAS
10-25...at Stephen F Austin
11-1...NORTHWESTERN STATE
11-8...at Southeastern Louisiana
11-15...NICHOLLS STATE
11-22....at Sam Houston State

The following info is from patssle:
Between 5 of those teams on their schedule...their combined record last year was 2-56.

SFA O FER
Southern Utah O FER
Texas Southern O FER
Northern Colorado 1-11
SMU 1-11

And if you include D2 Angelo State, they went 2-8. That's 4-64 between 6 teams.

 That is a crazy weak schedule!

at Nicholls State................6-5

The Dakota schools...are those the DII ones (well I guess they are moving up to DI sometime, or so I heard)?

South Dakota is the one we played two years ago at home and beat.

If I remember correctly though, they had a very small but fantastic running back. Again, I think this is the right game --- I asked a few of our players after the game about him and they said he was by far the running back hardest to tackle up to that point.

Anyway. As we've witnessed ourselves, the Dakota schools are solid.

Trey, I know you like the hogs, a little bit, so I won't say anything about Texas St. being the hogs of the SLC with that schedule of theirs.

I will gladly take this schedule. Our program is at a point where the only thing we need to worry about is getting W's and putting butts in the seat.

A 0-11 Southern Utah game doesn't sound too exciting, but going to a TxSt home game when the cats are 3-0 or 5-1 or whatever is more exciting to our fans, because the team is winning! We could schedule a tough team (say North Dakota State), but most fans down here could care less whether we play SUU or NDSU, they're both schools that nobody has ever heard of. So you might as well schedule the one you have a better chance of winning against, IMO.

We can worry about if we're going to pull a "McNeese" and fall on our face in the playoffs because of a weak schedule when the time comes. For now, I'm just hoping that we have a winning season next year.

Good points. When your program is down a little, just pull an Arkansas and schedule a few cupcakes and make it look good. Well, we scheduled a NAIA/d2 school this year and TX State! We must be wanting to fill the stadium to capacity or more! .....................

2007 was the last year of D-II. They'll both be in the Great West starting this fall. North Dakota was a D-II semifinalist last year. USD played McNeese pretty tough in Lake Charles this year though the score didn't reflect it. Glad we got 'em both at home.

Isn't TSU the one that was talking about going FBS a couple of years ago?

Yeah, we're still in the process of trying to get our stuff in order to be ready after the moratorium is up. We've got a long ways to go...it will help the cause if the football team has had recent winning seasons though...2005 is but now a memory.

I'm disappointed in you Monkey. I figured you would have posted a picture of their fg kicker from that team.
