Am I worthy of being "Southland Stuff"...I'm sure I can pull it off, eh?

I'll be in LR on business. Looks as if I'll get there during the day on Friday, the 15th with work happening in the late afternoon into the evening on Saturday, the 16th...

What's to do in LR? Any fine dining that I should partake in? If BearFan101 still going to be out of town on those dates?

I'll be in Jonesboro from Tues through Thurs prior to coming into Little Rock on Friday. Not sure if anyone is around that area... ;)

Some highlights of Little Rock....

1. Rivermarket downtown along Arkansas River....several nice cafes and restaurants

2. Clinton Library near Rivermarket

3. Bill Clinton's favorite McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc....sort of like Boston's Freedom Trail but only stops are fast food places

4. Capers Restaurant on Highway 10 (Cantrell Road) west of I430 ...very nice and quiet..casual

5. Gaudiest house in Arkansas on Cantrell Road but best seen during Christmas holidays with light show....

6. Little Rock Central High School...national historic site and gorgeous old buidling..still in use as major high school ....any respectable hotel can give you directions...near downtown

7. Juanita's Mexican Restuarant at about 17th and Main....good food and nice relaxed atmosphere...

8. Arkansas State Capitol......scaled down replica of US Capitol

9. War Memorial Stadium...one of the worst major stadiums in US where SEC games are played....

10. UCA campus..admittedly 25 miles north on I40 and eat at Mike's Restuarant downtown (UCA alum and major supporter) or maybe Stoby's on Donaghey

These are some of the respectable places and things to do....I'm sure some of my fellow Bear fans can also lead you to some of the less high brow places....any self-respecting UCA student knows the bars in LR...

Be sure to wear your Sam shirts and SLC gear.....makes the pig fans squirm to see other schools stuff...

Enjoy The Rock...

GoBears!!

PS ...left off the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur and Hillary's old law firm building or even the part-time home of actress Mary Steenburgen (North LR native) and her husband Ted Danson (of Cheers fame) but you just can't hit everything in 2 days.....so much to do....

PSS...... as for Jonesboro ..nice place to live with good industry ...be sure to drive through Arkansas State campus.....not sure of local eating places but there has to be some good catfish places (I'll see if I can get a name of two) .....good bet is a 50 mile road trip to Beale Street in Memphis and check out ribs at The Rendevous downtown.....then go to Graceland to give respects to The King....

You should make a short trip to Conway and make an official mosey of the Bear College, Southland's only Arkansas campus. There's plenty of fine eateries. To pick out the best vittle peddlers, look for the pickup truck count in the parking lots.
