I found this over on the McNeese Fan site:
"McNeese Football
McNeese State’s two time defending Southland Conference champion football team will open spring drills on Tuesday (April 1). There will be 49 lettermen, including 2006 all-American and Southland Conference Player of the Year Steven Whitehead, answering the opening whistle of Coach Matt Viator.
When interviewed today even before the first scheduled practice, Head Coach Matt Viator said, "
This is the year! With our returning starters and the new people coming up and coming in, this is the year we go to Chattanooga and win it all. I guarantee it!!"
When asked about Matt's statement, all of the assistant coaches backed Matt up 100%.
A.D. Tommy McClelland was quoted as saying, "If Matt and the rest of the coaching staff quarantee that this is the year, then I believe and will do whatever I can to support them. I've already started discussions with LSU about a possible game the next season after our National Championship win. But I'm not too sure about dealing with LSU's interim A.D. It may have to wait until their A.D. search selects a new A. D. I found out in our negotiations with ULL before the game last season, that interim A.D.'s can be a pain to deal with."
Practice sessions for the Cowboys will be held on the A. I. Ratcliff practice fields and begin around 3:10 p,m. each day. Scrimmage sessions are set for 10 a.m. on April 12 and 19th at 10 a.m. on the practice field. The Blue-Gold spring game will be held at 6 p.m.on April 24, hopefully in Cowboy Stadium on the new turf that is expected to be in by that time.
