See where Southeastern swept Miss. St. this past weekend. - at State. SLU now 7-0. From the little reading I've done the Lions are the real deal this season, so far.

Yeah, the SLC has had some pretty good wins to the baseball season. SLU swept Mississippi State, Lamar has beaten Rice, TX State swept Houston (I don't know if that qualifies as an upset), McNeese lost to LSU 1-2, Northwestern State won a game against Southern Miss, SFA beat Texas A&M,

I think many who havent followed baseball are now starting to figure out that the conference is a pretty tough league to be a part of. There are a lot of quality players, and programs, throughout the league.

Absolutely a good baseball league...Texas has so many solid high school ball players and SLC well placed to get talent....

Texas schools are tough, but the Louisiana schools are no slouch either and have some of the same advantages that the Texas ones do as far as talent...

Southeastern Louisiana Baseball Ranked for First Time in School History
Courtesy: Southland.org Release: 03/02/2010

After recording a three-game sweep at Mississippi State last weekend, the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team entered the national rankings for the first time in school history as the Lions were ranked No. 29 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

Southeastern (7-0) earned its first-ever sweep of an SEC opponent after coming back twice from two-run deficits to claim a 6-5 win in Sunday's finale. The Lions scored two runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by Trey Martin's steal of home that snapped a 5-5 tie.

The Lions opened the series scoring three runs in the ninth inning in a 4-1 victory before defeating the Bulldogs, 8-5, on Saturday. All-American relief pitcher Chris Franklin earned the win in Friday's game before coming back to pick up the save in Sunday's contest.

The Lions, who finished 37-22 last season, were one of five newcomers to the poll which included Western Kentucky (No. 23), Kentucky (No. 25), Washington State (No. 28) and Vanderbilt (No. 30). Defending national champion LSU remained No. 1 for the second consecutive week...
