For those interested - per the Austin American Statesman...

Texas State search broadens

By Kirk Bohls | Monday, December 6, 2010, 08:48 PM

Former Texas All-America defensive back Jerry Gray has thrown his hat into the ring for the Texas State head football coaching vacancy and, one source said, has been in contact with the school.

Gray, the secondary coach of the Seattle Seahawks, is a Texas native who would be an attractive option for the Bobcats even though he does not have head coaching experience, which is considered to be among the biggest criteria for the position as the football program expands soon to the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Former Minnesota Gophers coach Tim Brewster, another former Longhorn assistant and an outstanding recruiter, is also interested in the job and is expected to interview for the Texas State job this week, perhaps as soon as Tuesday.

Those two join former Texas A&M and former Texas State coach Dennis Franchione as interested candidates for the job. Brad Wright was fired after four seasons at the job.

4 finalists have been named by our Athletic Dept:

- Tim Brewster (Ex Minn HC)
- Dennis Fran (Ex Alabama, TCU, A&M HC)
- Bobby Jack Wright (Co-DC Oklahoma)
- Rocky Long (DC San Diego State, Ex New Mexico HC)

Parker Executive Search firm will send their list of candidates on Monday. Coach to be named next week.

Hopefully, this next HC will help us leave in style 8)

Sounds like you'll get an experienced coach. I would want Franchione or Rocky Long myself if it were my team.
