It took long enough but it appears worth the wait to do this right.

Have a look...

This doesn't show all the meeting rooms, administrative offices, the student academic area, etc. But it does show some of the weight room, some of the locker room, some of the equipment room, Coach Viator's office, and the club seating area on the second floor overlooking the field.

Awesome! I've always thought that UCA needed some kind of endzone complex that has coaches offices, a new locker room, some kind of sports museum, and more premium seating.

Looks very nice McTailgator. I have a question to ask it you don't mind.
I heard through the grapevine that you guys have somewhere around 2,000
members of the Cowboys booster club. At UCA, we are having a hard time
recruiting members. The ones we have are tremendous and you can always
count on them. How do you guys maintain a high level of support for your
program, when you are in the back door of LSU?

FOOT84 ....McNeese has been at this a long while at this level plus they have among the best fanbases you will find......I first ran into McNeese back in the 60s when they were part of an old conference with Arkansas State, La Tech, Southwestern La.....they were solid in everything then also.....ran into a bunch in Columbia, Missouri last fall at a ballgame and had a great time visiting.....

booster club

Technically, we don't have a booster club of any type at UCA that I know of. Our Purple Circle Club looks at themselves more or less as a fundraising organization. A booster club, imo, would be holding tailgate events, various events during the year that could benefit our athletic teams, etc. I don't know of one event that is sponsored by the PCC where a little manual labor and sweat is involved. Grant you, there are some events held where expenses are covered by the athletic department but not by a booster club or the PCC. I might be wrong but the PCC is interested basically in raising money thru memberships and corporate sponsors, which is a very important avenue to raising money for our programs, but I don't see much "rahrah" stuff being done by them out on the streets. About the only thing we have close to a booster club is the HOS Tailgaters but they are privately funded by themselves with their proceeds going to athletic scholarships.

The Alumni Assn., along with the athletic dept., has been the only organization that I have seen that has held away from home football games events. For you guys at other schools, just exactly how are your booster clubs set up and what exactly are their functions? Thanks for your input.

HB,that's good info. The HOS boys do one helluva job,but they can't replace a good, well organized booster club, bear foundation, whatever you would call it. We need to have active Bearbacker Clubs in every region of the state if we want to compete with the big time FCS powers.

Oh no the Cowboy Club is only on of several clubs that is overseen by the McNeese Athletic Foundation (MAF). The CBC may have about 250 members.

The MAF probably has a total of 2000 or so, but it is a result of having so many clubs under its wing.

Clubs at McNeese are:

Cowboy Club (All sports)
MSU Petro-Chemical Association (All Athletic Facilities)
Quarterback Club (Football)
Hoops Club (MBB)
Cowgirl Club (WBB)
Runners Club (Track)
Diamond Club (Baseball)
Dugout Club (Softball)

I think we also have some small orgainizations for Tennis, Vollyball, and Soccer, but I'm not certain about those.

You can also donate to athletic scholarships through the Alumni Association if yo want to dedicate donations directly to scholarships.

I personally donate to scholarships through both the Alumni Asso. and directly to the MAF.

Here at UCA it use to be that when submitting your PCC dues you could designate a particular sport to apply your dues to. I think that option has gone by the wayside and now all dues go into a general fund.

I really don't know why a "booster club" hasn't been initiated here unless the PCC people think there would be competition for money that otherwise would probably be going to the PCC. Seems to me that a booster club would be another way to raise money for whatever reason. Hell, we all pay state and federal taxes, I'm sure many of us would pay into two fundraising sports programs here at UCA.
