#2 EWU wins over #14 Sam by 56-35 at The Inferno....
Watched much of H2....21-21 at half and EWU up 28-21 at end of Q3.....then traded TDs until 42-35 and Kats could not hold late and went down 49-35 and then gave up the ball deep on 4th and out very late and EWU tacked on a final TD...
EWU looked more like a MACC team without the speed of Sam but very good execution...Kats have soild talent all over the field with hard running RBs who are slippery to get down plus a couple of very good receivers....the TE is a handful.....
Kats defense was suspect especially on crossing patterns and deep routes......
Teams ran 185 offense plays and rang up 1100+ yards together....
Both teams made FCS look pretty solid......
Oh yes, in Q4 with EWU 2nd and short in the red zone, Sam pointed out to the umpire that the EWU QB was wearing a tinted helmet shield.....he had to come out one play for an equipment change...the backup QB who had been watching on the sideline the entire game comes in and throws a perfect fade route for a TD as Sam bunched up close for a running play.......
Game quiz:
Which of the following is the true stat of the game?
a) EWU ran the ball only 16 times but for 159 yards b) Tim Flanders replacement at RB for Sam ran 16 for 159 c) Sam was penalized 16 for 159 d) EWU's top WR caught 16 passes for 159

Answer: C
Didn't get to watch the game, but I checked out the box score later. Sam lost some key players on offense and doesn't appear to have missed a beat. Throwing for 317 and rushing for 225. On paper, the new QB looks like he could cause real problems with his feet this year - more than Bell did.

I didn't get to watch all of it, but I was going to guess C because every time I tuned in, there was a SHSU penalty! Also, I agree about their QB. I saw a few good runs from him, which in the past has caused us fits. Hopefully our new system and coaches will correct that.

C, if cousre, is correct. They have 15 transfers playing and it was obvious they were not in sync ....yet.....I remember four sloppy facemasks penalties.... The QB was very good....reminded me a bit of Smothers.....they will be a challenge for sure....
