Half page advertisement on page 3 of the sports section in the ADG this morning:

The University of Arkansas Athletic programs have always been an asset to the state, the University and the people of Arkansas. Recently, the management of the athletic department by the Athletic Director and the Football Head Coach has cast a pall over this once proud institution to the point where the UofA Athletic Dept is now a liability rather than an asset.

While fans acknowledge the numerous contributions Coach Broyles has made over the years in his leadership of the athletic programs, the time for new leadership has arrived. Thank you Coach Broyles for all you have done. Please do not continue to overstay your effectiveness

Although fans also acknowledge the 2006 football season as an improvement on the field, we are disappointed and embarrassed by the lack of control off the field in football operations. Coach Nutt who has been allowed the longest tenure in college football by a BCS conference school without appearing in a BCS bowl game, does not provide the consistent leadership the football program needs in the very competitive Southeastern Conference.

We urge both of these men who have on numerous occasions vowed their love for the University of Arkansas and its athletic programs, to step down immediately.

Paid for by the Committee to Save The Hogs

All Hog fans welcome to the games...just don't wear your hog hats, hog jerseys and whatever you do don't bring a radio to listen to the Hogs play while at the game! My drink just might spill on your head as I carefully  walk down the stairs to get another coke because I accidently spilled mine on your head..

Apparently someone called into the Buzz earlier and said they raised something like $5500 (this is from memory) for the ad.

I wouldn't give a dime for that effort. Not that it isn't a good effort, but all this drama is shifting fans to UCA games and MBs. About time.

Report: Mustain considering OU, Tulsa
By JOHN E. HOOVER World Sports Writer
1/18/2007

View in Print (PDF) Format

Quarterback Mitch Mustain, who announced his intention to leave Arkansas on Tuesday, has reportedly narrowed his school choices to Oklahoma, Tulsa and Louisville.

A Fort Smith, Ark., television station reported Wednesday that Mustain had scheduled a visit to Norman for either Wednesday or Thursday, and that he would finalize his decision no later than this weekend.

Oklahoma coaches on Wednesday did not return phone calls, so the level of OU's interest is unknown. Also, it could not be confirmed that Mustain was actually visiting.

The Sooners have two quarterbacks -- redshirt freshman Sam Bradford and junior Joey Halzle -- set to compete for the job in 2007, as well as a verbal commitment from Michigan high schooler Keith Nichol, who began class at OU on Tuesday.

Mustain, who went 8-0 as a starter last season as a freshman at Arkansas before being replaced by sophomore Casey Dick, will have to sit out the 2007 season if he transfers to another Division I-A program.

Mustain was the Parade, Gatorade and USA Today national offensive player of the year at Springdale (Ark.) High School. He committed to Arkansas in 2005, then decommitted and ultimately committed again after Razorbacks coach Houston

Nutt hired his high school head coach, Gus Malzahn, as offensive coordinator. Malzahn was hired this week as co-offensive coordinator at Tulsa. Friday is the last day students can enroll at TU for the spring semester.

Also Wednesday, Rivals.com reported that OU co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Kevin Sumlin on Tuesday turned down a job offer from the University of Miami to be the Hurricanes' offensive coordinator.

This is about as likely to happen as a Texass fan singing Texass Fight and flying the Hook 'Em all game, or an LSU fan (corndog) toting a GEAUX TIGERS sign around Estes, or a Wisconsin fan bringing in a stereo and playing Jump Around whilst bouncing all over the place.

People typically don't go to a game and actively cheer on a team that isn't playing at that venue. Unless they are all hooked on meth or LSD or something of the like ... meaning you see this only at Arkansas Tech.
