Long but interesting article on NCAA and its travails.....

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32165989/can-ncaa-puzzle-solved-amid-culture-mistrust

No one should be surprised that not everyone gets along and trusts one another when LOTS of money and power is in play...in part they are a victim of their own success in creating the March Madness money machine.....

The NCAA has long been conflicted and the enormous money just makes it worse....they seem to have no clear mission..is it a sports governing body? Is it a source of revenue for member schools? Is it really just a business that has only a weak competitor (say NAIA)? Is it an employer of the "student-athletes"? Is it to foster sports as part of academic development?

However, pretty sure it is a compliance organization full of lawyers with nothing to do but enforce minor rules and try like hades to avoid major rules violations...unless you are a weak member. I would suspect when the NCAA moved from Overland Park to Indy that every NCAA member within 200 miles of OP sighed a big sigh of relief...it is just too easy to focus on places you can get to in a couple hours by car on interstates than those that takes a day to get to and another day to get back....

It is a complex problem with high octane egos at NCAA, the conferences and member schools....the article says the NCAA president gets paid $3 million annually....lots of money but there are very good people who would not touch the job for even that level of pay....

The P5 will be fine....they either break off or end up with control of NCAA as to anything that impacts them...the others better watch out for the fallout...the big issue is what happens to the money.....
