Southeast to Begin Search for Athletic Director and Newly Approved Associate Athletic Director

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 9, 2008 – Due to prior National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) major violations and a new NCAA Notice of Allegations (NOA) concerning possible major violations with the men’s and women’s basketball programs received Oct. 6, 2008, by Southeast Missouri State University, the University has decided to make several changes in the operations of its intercollegiate athletics.

Athletic Director Don Kaverman, effective at 9 a.m., Oct. 9, 2008, has been relieved of his athletic director and all other duties and placed on administrative leave until Feb. 7, 2009, when his contract will end.

Cindy Gannon, associate athletic director, was appointed as the interim director until a new athletic director is appointed...

Southeast Missouri State University Places Edgar on Administrative Leave

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 9, 2008 – Southeast Missouri State University has received a Notice of Allegations (NOA) from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) concerning possible major violations involving the men’s basketball program.

The allegations were outlined in a letter to Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins from David Price, the NCAA’s vice president for enforcement. The letter was received by the University Oct. 6, 2008...


I know a few years ago, SEMO got into trouble with the NCAA over the former women's basketball coach and some of the things he had done.

NCAA infractions committee announces Southeast Missouri State University athletic violations

The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions announced several sanctions against the Southeast Missouri State University men's and women's basketball teams in a 2 p.m. conference call with media today.

Penalties levied against the university include three years of probation, athletics scholarship reduction, recruiting restrictions and vacation of records.
