Too many people in the government getting involved, to include the President-Elect

To hell with the budget. If he can balance the BCS of the NCAA then he will get my vote - next time.

Sad that FBS football is the only sport NCAA does not have a national champion....there is NO reason other than money as FCS, D2 and D3 seem to be able to do a playoff successfully year after year...not perfect but better than ESPN deciding....Kirk Herbstreit admitted last night a Utah (non BCS) has no chance to win unless they start off in the preseason poll in Top 8 or so .....that is ridiculous that a preseason poll by football wannebes decides who gets to play for the title....

College presidents who argue it takes too much time away from classwork have no idea....basketball, baseball and volleyball players lose far more class and study time than football.....plus I guess they must think FCS, D2 and D3 football players must not have classes....

It is ALL about the money and a monoploy....

Bingo! It always has been and always will be until the federal government decides this is yet one more area of our lives they need to get involved in for the "good of all."

There is an emerging legal argument that FBS should be looked at more as a business (think $2+ milion coaches salaries) than an extension of the university. A similar argument could be made for men's basketball BUT they do not discriminate via a cartel. Federal anti-trust laws prohibit monopoly power unless, like regulated utilities, there is a specific exemption usually meaning heavy regulation. A cartel is not a monopoly but is still prohibited such as via price fixing.

Still, when ESPN figures out how to make more money with a FBS payoff than the BCS and bowl games..it will get done.
