The street talk in NWA today (at least one versin) is that Pelfrey goes to Kentucky and Mike Anderson "comes home to Fayetteville". That sort of overlooks that "home" would be more like Tulsa, Mike may still not care for how his friend and mentor was treated and that Bama is said to be raising a war chest to recruit him from Mizzou (guess they could go after Gillispie) and that Mizzou can recruit St Louis, KC and Chicago easier ...and overlooks that Mizzou alums like Mike a lot (at least all my Mizzou friends do) and have more than a few Tiger bucks to give if they so choose....Mizzou is thought to be a "football school" but a 30+ win year in the Big 12 (esp if they make it to Final Four) has a way of making basketball fans......

Trivia:

Who did Kentucky beat in the first official game of the Gillispie era?

This overlooks the fact that 'Bama has already hired Anthony Grant from VCU. Nice try on having the inside word though.

This overlooks many things ...

1. A guy who just went 2-14 in the SEC probably isn't the hottest of commodities for Big Blue, though I wouldn't shed a tear if he were to get offered that job and took off. I'm not saying it's impossible that he'd get a look, but improbable. They're going to have to get turned down by quite a few more folks before that happens.

2. Anderson called the state of Alabama, not Tulsa, "home" in a story in the Commercial Appeal just yesterday.

3. His friend and mentor was mistreated by an administration that is no longer there. Said friend/mentor doesn't hate Arkansas Razorback basketball, and I don't imagine that Mike Anderson does either. Now, whether he loves it enough take the job there (if it were ever even offered) is a different story.

Mike may be happy to build his own program at Missouri and not be under Nolan's shadow, which – more than what happened to Nolan under Frank – might be the biggest reason in him staying away. Well that and there's no vacancy.

I would think they would go after Anderson, or even Ford. Pelphrey would have been accepted, but after a mediocre year at UA, he's probably not high on the list.

That is an absolutely ridiculous sum of money. I hope that either the student newspaper reporting that figure got it wrong (not that student papers ever screw up), or that is what he could make based on a bunch of incentives and he'd have to win the SEC regular season and tournament and the national championship every year to reach that sum.

Mike Anderson to Memphis would be interesting.
