UAFS fall enrollment up 8%

Quote:
The Associated Press reported that Arkansas State University (Jonesboro) fall enrollment was up 6%. Enrollment at the University of Central Arkansas (Conway) fell more than 9%. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock said its enrollment increased 10% to 13,167 students.

Enrollment at all public and private universities in Arkansas has increase 13.4% between the 2004-2005 academic year (165,242 students) and the 2008-2009 academic year (187,441 students).

Deceptive, takes away the concurrent and the fact that UCA is either the most expensive pub. 4 year inst. or close to it. Budgets are tight..LR people see UALR as economical.

How is that deceptive? That's a pretty legit reason for enrollment to drop – particularly in a down economy.

There continues to be something goofy about the funding we get from The Ledge...that in turn drives tuition....

Over 1000 students that never attended UCA but took courses in their high school and were counted as students at UCA...aren't now. So the foundational students, those that actually attend UCA, on campus paying full tuition etc.. are still in there. Enrollment didn't drop, UCA just removed those outliers.

So, is that like saying we never really were the 2nd largest university in Arkansas to begin with?

I do wonder about the ledge funding we get. I think if we upped our research capacity & masters/doctoral offerings a few notches some of that might go away (not that there is much reason for the difference now).
