GREAT AMERICAN CONFERENCE UNVEILS LOGO
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- The newly formed Great American Conference (GAC) now has a visual identity. The Little Rock firm of Stone Ward created the series of red, blue and gray logos that were released recently by the conference office.
Dr. Jack Lassiter, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, chaired a special task force charged with the development of a conference name and a logo. "I want to thank my fellow CEOs and the creative staff at Stone Ward in the branding and logo development for the Great American Conference," said Lassiter. "This is an exciting opportunity to build an athletic conference that will reflect the mission and athletic profile of each of the nine member institutions."
"This is another significant step in our development as a conference,"
said Great American Conference Commissioner Will Prewitt. "Stone Ward did a tremendous job working with our membership to create a distinctive identity. I'm looking forward to seeing these marks on uniforms, fields and courts just over 200 days from now when our student-athletes begin play under the Great American Conference banner."
The primary logo consists of the logotype accompanied by an abstract shield. Secondary marks include a horizontal "GAC" logo and an alternate "GA Conference" logo.
The GAC will launch competition this September with conference championships awarded in 10 sports. The conference's nine charter members are located in Arkansas or Oklahoma and are members of NCAA Division II.
